The Valet Attendant position at Crothall is a full-time role based at Adventist Health Bakersfield, located at 2615 Chester Avenue, Bakersfield, CA. This position plays a pivotal role as the first point of contact for patients, guests, and visitors arriving at the hospital by providing world-class valet services. The working hours are typically from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with days that may vary and further scheduling details provided during the interview. Valet Attendants are responsible for the safe and timely delivery of patient and guest vehicles, ensuring comfort and safety during transport and handling. This position offers a competitive fixed pay rate of $24.00 per hour. The role demands hands-on involvement with vehicle operations, including manual and automatic transmissions, and patient assistance involving wheelchairs and medical equipment, maintaining patient comfort and safety at all times. Additionally, the Valet Attendant supports emergency response activities and contributes to the cleanliness and upkeep of the valet and parking areas.

Job Requirements

  • Prior customer service experience required
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to drive and operate automatic and manual transmission vehicles
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and transferring patients
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations
  • Willingness to maintain cleanliness of surroundings

Job Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to drive and operate automatic and manual transmission vehicles including sub-compact, compact, full-size, SUV, vans, and golf carts

Job Duties

  • Ensures safe, timely and accurate delivery of the patient’s/guest’s vehicle to their destination
  • Demonstrates competency in driving all types of vehicles including manual and automatic transmissions
  • Utilizes proper body mechanics when lifting and transferring patients/guests to and from vehicle and wheelchair
  • Properly and safely transports patients and medical equipment while ensuring patient/guest comfort
  • Collects and returns wheelchairs to designated areas and disinfects equipment after use
  • Responds to emergency activities such as code calls and disasters
  • Takes responsibility for general clean-up of grounds surrounding valet and parking lots
  • Performs other duties as assigned
