Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • one to three months related experience or training
  • valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • driver’s license held for at least two years
  • ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
  • ability to read, write, and comprehend simple correspondence
  • ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions
  • ability to perform physical tasks including lifting 25-50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • ability to work in various physical conditions including wet, humid, and outside environments
  • adherence to all safety and driving laws
  • willingness to maintain cleanliness and perform general maintenance tasks

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • ability to write simple correspondence
  • ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations
  • ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • driver’s license held for a minimum of two years

Job Duties

  • Check work schedule weekly and report for all scheduled shifts on time, in complete uniform and with nametag on
  • punch in to the correct department on time clock no more than 5 minutes before shift and punch out directly after shift ends
  • provide excellent guest service by being courteous, prompt, and professional
  • have knowledge of all aspects of the hotel facilities
  • assist with guest complaints by seeking help from Guest Service Agent
  • manage packages, incoming groups, VIPs, and other hotel activities knowledgeably
  • handle guest requests and complaints professionally
  • assist guests with dinner reservations, directions, amenities, and more
  • greet guests upon arrival and open hotel doors with a smile
  • maintain cleanliness of valet desk and hotel exterior
  • assist Maintenance Team with sweeping, shoveling, and other tasks
  • use proper etiquette answering phones and assist Front Desk
  • properly file and tag guest car keys
  • label and store guest luggage, especially overnight luggage
  • deliver returned laundry to correct rooms and provide receipts to Front Desk
  • aid other departments with a positive attitude
  • assist guests traveling to and from airport, bus, train stations, local restaurants, museums, and other attractions
  • follow all State of Maine driving laws
  • assist Guest Service Team as needed
  • ensure hotel vehicles are clean and fueled
  • maintain general knowledge of the Greater Portland area
  • call taxis for guests when needed
  • keep lobby clutter free and neat
  • perform other duties as assigned by Department managers
