Job Description

King County's Facilities Management Division (FMD) is seeking to hire several Utility Worker I positions within its Building Services Section. King County is a reputable government entity that operates and maintains a diverse portfolio of public facilities, serving a vibrant and diverse community. The Facilities Management Division manages approximately 3 million square feet across numerous critical county locations, including downtown corridors, the King County Courthouse, regional justice centers, administration buildings, public health facilities, and the county airport. Job Requirements

  • Possess a valid Washington State Driver's License
  • Driving is a regular job function requiring a five year Washington State Complete Driver's Abstract
  • Final appointment contingent upon acceptable driving history fingerprint based criminal history check and pre-employment physical examination

Job Qualifications

  • Previous work experience performing physical tasks related to the position
  • Predictable and reliable attendance
  • Knowledge of the basic use and care of tools and equipment
  • Ability to get along and work effectively with others in the team
  • Basic knowledge of building craft and mechanical trades
  • Knowledge of safety procedures
  • Ability to take direct orders work assignment and communicate effectively with the supervisor

Job Duties

  • Clean and maintain a variety of areas including building and or bus shelter interiors and exteriors surroundings landscapes parking areas and vehicles
  • Operate power tools including pressure washers
  • Maintain daily logs and complete work requests on assignments
  • Load and drive various types of trucks including dump and box trucks
  • Assist in performing minor maintenance and repairs to facilities grounds and structures including periodic preventive maintenance and inspection and repairs resulting from vandalism and emergencies
  • Lift carry move office furniture and equipment using moving equipment as well as manually
  • Set up meeting rooms as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned
