The company’s core values focus on respect, inclusion, and safety, fostering a work environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute their best. Sodexo is dedicated to sustainability and community improvement, actively engaging in social, economic, and environmental progress where it operates. By joining Sodexo, employees become part of a diverse and dynamic team that strives for excellence and growth while making a positive impact on the lives they touch.
The Utility Worker position at Sodexo, based at Dillard University, is a full-time role that offers a competitive pay rate of $15.00 per hour. This position plays a crucial role in supporting kitchen and facility operations by ensuring that all food production and service areas maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and organization. Utility Workers engage in a variety of tasks including washing dishes by hand or using dishwashing machines, cleaning and sanitizing work surfaces, walls, refrigerators, and meat blocks, sweeping and mopping floors, emptying trash, and restocking necessary supplies such as soap and paper towels. The role demands physical stamina as it involves significant walking, standing for extended periods, reaching, bending, lifting, and moving items weighing up to 50 pounds. Scheduled shifts vary, and employees should ideally have open availability to meet operational demands.
In addition to the core responsibilities, Utility Workers may be called upon to assist with set-up and break-down duties during food service times and to adapt to other duties based on business necessities or client requirements. Sodexo emphasizes the importance of punctuality and regular attendance as key components of job performance in this position. While no prior related work experience is required, an understanding of basic sanitation procedures and food safety concepts is essential to fulfilling the role effectively. Sodexo provides a supportive and flexible work environment that values each employee’s contributions and encourages personal and professional development. The company offers ongoing training and advancement opportunities to help employees build a career within the organization.
Working at Sodexo means more than having a job; it’s an opportunity to be part of a company that values culture and belonging, ensuring employees are treated fairly and with respect. Sodexo’s inclusive approach means that diverse perspectives are welcomed and appreciated, enabling a stronger, more cohesive team. The company also offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employees and their families, including paid time off, holidays, medical, dental and vision insurance, tuition reimbursement, a 401(k) savings plan, and various discount programs. Some locations may provide additional site-specific benefits such as free meals during shifts, uniforms, safety shoes, public transportation assistance, and parking. Overall, Sodexo strives to create an environment where employees can thrive both personally and professionally while contributing to the betterment of the communities they serve.
