As a Utility Worker with Sodexo at Wayne State University, you will play an essential support role within kitchen and facility operations. This position primarily focuses on maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and organization throughout food production and service areas, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment. Your responsibilities will include the cleaning of equipment, utensils, floors, walls, and storage spaces, vital tasks that uphold Sodexo’s commitment to high sanitary standards and customer satisfaction. Additionally, you will assist with the transportation and storage of supplies, basic set-up and break-down tasks, and replenishing necessary items such as soap, paper towels, and cleaning materials.

The position involves significant physical activity, including walking or standing for extended periods, lifting moderate weights, and performing various repetitive motions such as bending, reaching, and stooping. Job Duties
- Washes dishes by hand or places them in a dishwashing machine
- cleans and sanitizes worktables, walls, refrigerators and meat blocks
- sweeps, mops, cleans and vacuums floors
- removes trash and garbage to designated areas
- cleans equipment using specific chemicals to ensure sanitary standards
- restocks supplies such as soap, paper towels, and cleaning materials
- performs significant walking or other means of mobility needed for duties
- stands or walks for extended periods, sometimes over 8 hours
- lifts up to 35 pounds frequently and occasionally moves 50 pounds
- attends work and shows for scheduled shifts on time
- performs other duties as assigned by Sodexo according to client requirements
