The Utility Worker role at Sodexo, located at KIPP Journey Campus, is a full-time position paying $16.00 per hour. This role plays a crucial part in supporting kitchen and facility operations by ensuring cleanliness, sanitation, and organization throughout food production and service areas. The position involves cleaning and maintaining equipment, utensils, floors, walls, and storage spaces as well as transporting and storing supplies in a safe and efficient manner. This role also assists with set-up and break-down tasks as necessary, helping to maintain a smooth operation in the kitchen environment.

As a Utility Worker, you will work primarily weekday morning shifts, providing essential support that maintains the high standards Sodexo is known for. Beyond basic cleaning, you will engage in a variety of tasks like washing dishes by hand or with dishwashing machines, sanitizing work tables and refrigerators, sweeping and mopping floors, and removing trash and garbage. The job requires physical stamina including the ability to walk or stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights safely. This role demands reliability and punctual attendance, as it is foundational to the smooth operation of food production services.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • No prior related work experience required
  • Ability to adhere to sanitation and safety procedures
  • Ability to walk, stand, reach, bend, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 35 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to work weekdays morning shifts
  • Availability to work full-time
  • Punctuality and reliable attendance
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Physical stamina

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of sanitation procedures including basic concepts of food safety

Job Duties

  • Wash dishes by hand or use dishwashing machine
  • Clean and sanitize worktables, walls, refrigerators, and meat blocks
  • Sweep, mop, clean, and vacuum floors
  • Remove trash and garbage to designated areas
  • Clean equipment using specific chemicals to ensure sanitary standards
  • Re-stock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and cleaning materials
  • Assist with basic set-up and break-down tasks as directed
  • Attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Perform significant walking or other means of mobility
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods
