Job Description
The Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, located at 2552 Kalakaua Ave, Honolulu, Hawaii, is a distinguished destination offering exceptional hospitality services in one of the most vibrant and scenic locations in the world. The resort is currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Steward to join its Food and Beverage team on a part-time, on-call basis. The position is non-management and offers a competitive pay range of $26.82 to $33.52 per hour, reflecting the expertise required to maintain high standards of cleanliness and operational efficiency within the food service areas. This role is critical to the resort’s commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences by ensuring that kitchen and dining environments adhere to rigorous sanitation and safety standards.
The Steward will be responsible for operating and maintaining cleaning equipment such as dishwashing machines, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactors. They will carry out thorough cleaning and disinfecting of kitchen and store room areas, tables, tools, knives, and other kitchen equipment. Proper handling and storage of deliveries and perishables, as well as the rotation of stock, will be essential components of the role. The Steward will also be tasked with using detergent, rinsing, and sanitizing chemicals in a three-compartment sink to clean dishes effectively, inspecting and sorting cleaned items, and managing waste disposal and recycling processes according to company policies.
This role requires a proactive approach to safety, including reporting maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to management. The Steward must collaborate with other team members to maintain a positive working environment and support the achievement of department goals. Physical demands include moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and enduring extended periods of standing, sitting, or walking. The ability to bend, twist, stoop, and reach overhead or below the knees is also necessary to successfully perform the job duties.
Candidates with at least two years of experience in similar roles in hotels or high-volume restaurants are preferred, though no specific educational requirements or supervisory experience are mandatory. Job Requirements
- minimum 2 years experience in hotel or high-volume restaurant as steward preferred
- ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- operate and maintain cleaning equipment including dish washing machines, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing station, and trash compactor
- wash and disinfect kitchen and store room areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment
- receive deliveries and store perishables properly
- rotate stock
- use detergent, rinsing, and sanitizing chemicals in the 3-compartment sink to clean dishes
- inspect, pull, and stack cleaned items
- send soiled items back for re-scrubbing and re-washing
- rack and spray all racked items with hot water to loosen and remove food residue
- sort, soak, wash and re-wash silverware
- breakdown dirty bus tubs
- empty and maintain trashcans and dumpster area
- clean and mop all areas in assigned departments
- dispose of glass in proper containers
- break down cardboard boxes and place recyclables in recycle bin
- follow safety and security policies and report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions
