Job Description

Performance Foodservice is a prominent broadline distributor under Performance Food Group (PFG) that plays a vital role in the foodservice supply industry. The company maintains strong partnerships with a diverse clientele, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. Their dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts work closely with customers to provide expert advice aimed at enhancing operational performance, menu development, product selection, and business strategies. Performance Foodservice goes beyond simply delivering delicious food; they are committed to supporting independent restaurant owners in realizing their business dreams and strengthening their operations.

This role is a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver position that offers a Monday through Friday schedule with rotating Saturdays. The role involves early dispatch duties between 4am and 6am, and the hourly wage is competitive at $39.13. Candidates must possess basic typing and computer skills and must be able to obtain doubles endorsements within six months of employment. As a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver for Performance Foodservice, you will be an integral part of America’s food supply chain, ensuring timely and safe delivery of food products to a wide range of customers. You will be the face of the company, building and maintaining long-lasting relationships with customers through professional service.

The position requires flexible driving skills to fill in routes when coverage is unavailable, helping to ensure continuous delivery operations without cutting any routes. The role may involve linking to a domicile yard rather than an operational company location. Extensive safety checks are mandated, including pre- and post-trip inspections of tractor, truck, and trailers in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. You will be expected to inspect and maintain company vehicle safety standards, report any repairs or safety issues, and follow all applicable DOT and company driving policies to promote a culture of safety.

Additionally, this role involves inspecting trailers for secured freight, performing count checks of loaded items against customer invoices, properly completing delivery paperwork, and managing equipment and trailer cleanliness. Handling of damaged goods and customer returns is also a key responsibility. Daily record-keeping, adherence to hours of service, and compliance with all relevant state, federal, and company policies are essential duties. Beyond these operational responsibilities, experienced drivers may have opportunities to train newer drivers to maintain route coverage and uphold company standards.

Performance Foodservice values employee growth and offers numerous benefits including day-one health and wellness benefits, employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and a supportive and inclusive work environment. The company fosters a culture of rewards, recognition, and respect, making it an excellent workplace for those interested in building a career within the food distribution industry. As part of this role, you will contribute critically to the food distribution network that sustains America’s culinary establishments and their customers.
