Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline foodservice distributor dedicated to serving a vast range of customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. Established as a trusted partner within the foodservice industry, PFG combines a comprehensive network of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and operational experts to support customers’ success by providing tailored advice on menu development, product selection, and operational strategies. The company prides itself on delivering not only top-quality food products but also exceptional customer service, fostering long-term relationships that help independent restaurant owners and foodservice operators thrive.
Offering a culture rich in recognition, inclusion, and respect, Performance Foodservice is committed to maintaining a safe workplace and rewarding hard work through competitive pay and extensive benefits. This includes day-one health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and various opportunities for career advancement. The company emphasizes growth and development opportunities, encouraging employees to build rewarding careers while playing an essential role in America’s food distribution system.
The Food and Food Service Delivery Driver role at Performance Foodservice is a vital position within the company’s operational framework. Delivery drivers are tasked with ensuring the efficient and safe transportation of food products to customers, acting as the face of the company by cultivating strong relationships with clients. Drivers operate under scheduled shifts from Sunday to Thursday starting at 5 PM until the job is finished, earning a competitive wage of $27.43 per hour.
In this role, drivers perform necessary safety inspections per Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including pre-trip and post-trip checks of the tractor/truck and trailer. Attention to detail is critical as drivers are responsible for verifying that freight is properly loaded and secured, completing all required paperwork accurately, and maintaining compliance with safety and operational guidelines throughout deliveries. Drivers also handle unloading damaged goods and customer returns, ensuring that proper documentation is completed and operational standards are upheld.
Additional responsibilities include supporting route coverage by filling in as a flexible driver when needed and assisting in training newer drivers. The position demands adherence to rigorous safety standards, maintaining compliance with DOT, state, and company regulations, and fostering a supportive, safety-oriented team culture. Drivers utilize tools such as two-wheelers and lift gates, and must be physically capable of lifting and moving freight weighing between 60 to 90 pounds.
Performance Foodservice values diversity and equal employment opportunity, providing an inclusive environment where employees can develop and contribute meaningfully. The Food and Food Service Delivery Driver role is ideal for motivated candidates seeking a stable, well-compensated position with opportunities for personal and professional growth while playing an essential part in the nation’s food supply chain.
