Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline foodservice distributor dedicated to serving a diverse client base including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company prides itself on delivering not only top-quality food products but also exceptional customer service through a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and operational experts. This team works closely with customers to offer advice on menu development, operational strategies, and product selection to help independent restaurant owners succeed and achieve their business goals. With a strong presence in the food distribution industry, Performance Foodservice emphasizes growth, safety, inclusivity, and recognition within its work culture.
The position offered is a Delivery Driver role that plays a vital part in America’s food supply chain. As a delivery driver for Performance Foodservice, you will be responsible for ensuring timely and safe delivery of products, maintaining customer satisfaction, and representing the company professionally at all times. This role operates on a schedule of Monday to Friday with rotating Saturdays, with dispatch times between 4 am and 6 am. The role offers a competitive pay rate of $39.13 per hour and includes essential benefits such as day one health and wellness coverage, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off.
Responsibilities include conducting all required safety inspections on trucks and trailers according to Department of Transportation regulations, securing freight properly, verifying product loads against customer invoices, and maintaining accurate and legible paperwork. The driver also ensures compliance with driving regulations, maintains safety standards during loading and unloading, and may assist newer drivers with training when route coverage is not required. The role requires basic typing and computer skills for documentation and reporting purposes. Importantly, drivers must be able to obtain doubles endorsements within six months of employment to expand the scope of their driving responsibilities.
This position is integral to keeping routes covered effectively, preventing delivery disruptions, and supporting larger distribution efforts that are critical to the national food supply. Performance Foodservice fosters a safe and inclusive working environment that values rewards, recognition, and respect. Employees benefit from a culture that encourages professional development and growth opportunities within the company, making it an excellent career path for motivated commercial drivers looking to make a difference in the foodservice delivery sector. The company adheres strictly to Equal Employment Opportunity policies, ensuring fair treatment for all employees and applicants.
