Job Description

Northwest Texas Healthcare System (NWTHS), a prominent subsidiary of Universal Health Services (UHS), is a comprehensive healthcare system based in Amarillo, Texas. With a 495-bed capacity, NWTHS serves not only the city of Amarillo but also the surrounding regions, providing a robust healthcare network that combines traditional values with cutting-edge medical technologies. The system embodies a commitment to exemplary patient care, ensuring that both the medical needs and the personal comforts of its patients are given the highest priority. Amarillo, known for its welcoming community, quality educational institutions, and beautiful natural surroundings such as Palo Duro Canyon, offers an ideal blend of vibrant city amenities and a close-knit small-town atmosphere, making it a desirable and supportive environment for healthcare professionals and their families.

NWTHS operates as part of UHS, one of the largest and most respected hospital and healthcare service providers in the United States, which ranks among Fortune 500 companies with annual revenues reaching $15.8 billion as of 2024. UHS manages an extensive range of healthcare facilities including acute care hospitals, behavioral health facilities, outpatient centers, and ambulatory care access points across various states and territories, also including operations in the United Kingdom. With approximately 99,000 employees, UHS fosters a culture of growth and excellence, providing numerous career development opportunities and emphasizing inclusiveness, respect, and mutual support in the workplace.

The Dishwasher position at NWTHS is a critical role within the hospital's kitchen staff, responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation to support the food service department’s smooth operation. This role involves washing dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment, either manually or with a commercial dishwashing machine, to meet stringent sanitary standards that protect patient and staff health. Beyond dishwashing, the position requires upkeep of kitchen and related work areas, including cleaning surfaces, floors, and refrigeration units, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment.

The Dishwasher position demands physical endurance as it includes activities such as sweeping, mopping, lifting items up to 35-40 pounds, and standing for extended periods, typically up to eight hours. The role also requires active participation in safety training, compliance with hospital policies, and effective communication with coworkers and supervisors to maintain an efficient and cooperative team environment. NWTHS values employees who demonstrate commitment, professionalism, and a passion for contributing to a culture of exceptional patient care and personal excellence.

This full-time position offers a substantial benefits package including competitive pay, medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and participation in a 401(k) plan with company match. Additional perks may include retention and loan forgiveness programs, access to career development resources under UHS’s expansive network, and opportunities to engage with wellness and safety programs designed to foster a stimulating and supportive work environment. NWTHS encourages individuals who share their dedication to healthcare excellence and community service to apply for the Dishwasher role and become part of a dedicated team that plays an integral role in patient and staff satisfaction within their thriving healthcare system.
