Job Description
The position is based at the Las Vegas Airport, a major transportation hub that connects millions of travelers annually. Within this bustling environment operates a Food and Beverage (F&B) service that caters to diverse customers including tourists, business travelers, and airport staff. The company managing this F&B service is committed to providing excellent customer service and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety in all its operations. As a part of the hospitality industry, the business plays a vital role in ensuring that facilities at the airport are sanitary, efficient, and welcoming. The utility position available is a non-exempt role, which means employees are eligible for overtime pay and are expected to contribute actively to the day-to-day operations of the F&B service.
The Utility Associate at the Las Vegas Airport F&B service is an essential team member responsible for maintaining cleanliness and operational efficiency behind the scenes. This role requires dedicated effort to clean equipment such as refrigerators, work tables, and meat blocks, ensuring that all operational tools meet sanitary codes. The associate is also tasked with cleaning utensils, pots, and pans either by hand or using dishwashing machines, and must ensure these items are returned to their designated locations promptly to avoid disruptions in service. Another critical responsibility includes managing waste by removing trash and garbage to designated disposal areas, as well as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and buffing floors using heavy equipment to maintain a safe, hygienic environment.
In addition to cleaning duties, the Utility Associate handles inventory tasks such as stocking, dating, rotating, and checking the temperature of products, which safeguards food quality and safety. The role also involves checking supplies like ice levels, keg beers, bib sodas, and CO2 containers to ensure these are adequately replaced when necessary. The associate is responsible for loading and unloading supply trucks, which requires physical strength and stamina as some items may weigh up to 40 pounds or more.
This position demands adherence to the company’s security and safety protocols at all times, emphasizing the importance of a safe and secure workplace for all employees and customers. The ideal candidate for this role is physically capable of performing tasks that require bending, twisting, standing for prolonged periods, and frequent immersion of hands in water and chemical solutions. Exceptional interpersonal skills are also needed, as the Utility Associate interacts with both the public and coworkers regularly and must exhibit a friendly, enthusiastic, and professional attitude.
Working in an airport environment demands flexibility and the ability to work amidst high volumes of people and fast-paced conditions. The successful candidate must be able to comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents, and demonstrate reliability and a strong work ethic. The company is an Equal Opportunity Employer, embracing diversity and inclusion by supporting minorities, females, disabled individuals, and veterans. Furthermore, it is a drug-free workplace, underscoring its commitment to safety. Overall, the Utility Associate role is pivotal in supporting the smooth operations of the F&B service at Las Vegas Airport, contributing to an exceptional experience for all patrons and staff alike.
