The Maintenance Technician - Utilities role at Nestle USA is integral to ensuring the seamless and safe operation of the plant's utilities systems. This position principally involves overseeing and maintaining critical systems such as ammonia and CO2 refrigeration, steam, hot water, glycol, HVAC, fire protection, and compressed air. The technician will also provide support in packaging and production maintenance during critical situations and must be available on call 24/7 to cover absences or vacations, highlighting the demanding yet rewarding nature of the job. Nestle offers competitive compensation for certified technicians (RETA CIRO) ranging from $38 to $40 per hour plus shift differentials, while uncertified technicians earn between $29 and $35 per hour plus shift differentials. Job Requirements
- Must pass physical capacity evaluation
- ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and move up to 25 pounds frequently
- ability to stand, walk, handle and operate tools regularly
- RETA CIRO certification within two years required
- physical ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch and balance
- ability to work in loud environments with exposure to chemicals, temperature extremes and moving mechanical parts
- ability to be on call 24/7
- Sunday-Thursday work schedule from 11 PM to 7:30 AM with shift differentials
- commitment to complete required training programs
- must have high school diploma or GED
- ability to read and write in English
Job Qualifications
- High school education or GED
- RETA or CIRO certification preferred
- completion of Nestle Refrigeration training matrix within first two years required
- ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, policies and procedures
- ability to write simple correspondence
- ability to present information effectively in small group situations
- good computer knowledge
- ability to understand and operate internal inventory systems
- strong problem-solving skills with ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions
