With a commitment to innovation, safety, and excellence, KBR supports critical missions that have a profound impact on national security, infrastructure development, and space exploration. The company prides itself on a dynamic and collaborative work environment where employees are encouraged to belong, connect, and grow through continuous professional development and a Zero Harm culture. KBR’s National Security Solutions team is specifically focused on providing cutting-edge engineering and technology support to the U.S. intelligence and defense communities, ensuring the protection and advancement of national security interests in an increasingly complex global environment.

KBR is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Joint Exercise Planner to join their team supporting U.S. Space Command (USSPACECOM). This role is critical in ensuring effective joint exercise planning and execution, contributing directly to the preparedness and operational success of USSPACECOM’s mission to defend and advance U.S. interests in space. The position requires an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance, which is mandatory due to the sensitive nature of the work. The job is based in Colorado Springs, CO, with minimal travel requirements and standard full-time working hours. Compensation for this role ranges from $100,000 to $145,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications, with potential additional bonuses and incentives.

As a Joint Exercise Planner, the incumbent will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) across all phases of the Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC) for Tier 1 and Tier 2 exercises conducted at HQ USSPACECOM and other Combatant Commands. This role involves extensive collaboration with multiple space mission areas including Satellite Communications (SATCOM), Global Positioning System (GPS), Space Domain Awareness, Missile Warning, Space Theater Operations (STO), Space Electronic Warfare (SEW), Cyber Command (CYBERCOM) activities, and Space Control. The planner will be responsible for developing and processing force requests, managing exercise schedules and requirements, providing strategic advice, and coordinating with other Combatant Commands, NATO, and allied partners to ensure unified and effective space operation exercises.

The role also demands proficiency in critical military planning systems and processes such as the Joint Operational Planning and Execution System (JOPES), Joint Mission Essential Task List (JMSEL), and familiarity with assessment tools like the Joint Training and Exercise Program Combined Training Event Planning (JETP CTP) cost estimates. Responsibilities include preparing senior level briefings, media presentations, managing SharePoint portals, and providing after-action reviews. The planner will also serve as an exercise observer, trainer, and assessor as necessary, supporting a comprehensive approach to training and readiness.

This position not only requires a strong background in DoD operations and space-related military expertise but also excellent communication skills, with experience in developing high-level memorandums, directives, and briefing materials for senior military leaders and civilian executives. Ideal candidates will have 15+ years of relevant experience, a Bachelor’s degree or higher, and Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) qualifications are highly desired. KBR’s culture fosters career advancement through professional training and development, ensuring employees remain at the forefront of their field while contributing to vital national security missions.
