Job Description

Mayo Civic Center is a premier event venue located in Rochester, Minnesota, renowned for hosting a wide range of events, from concerts and sporting events to conventions and community gatherings. Operated by ASM Global, a leading venue management company, the Mayo Civic Center is committed to providing exceptional guest experiences through outstanding service and a well-maintained facility. As a vibrant hub of entertainment and cultural activities, the center attracts diverse audiences from the local community and beyond. ASM Global focuses on creating safe, welcoming, and accessible environments, making it a sought-after destination for events in the region. Their emphasis on professionalism and customer satisfaction has made the Mayo Civic Center a cornerstone in Rochester's event scene.

The Ushers/Ticket Takers position in the Guest Services department plays a critical role in the event experience by ensuring guests are warmly welcomed and guided throughout the facility. Reporting directly to the Event Manager, this part-time, non-exempt position offers hourly compensation ranging from $13.06 to $14.06. Ushers/Ticket Takers serve as the first point of contact for attendees, greeting guests enthusiastically while providing event information and assistance. Responsibilities include scanning tickets for entry, escorting guests to their seats, and monitoring seating areas to uphold safety regulations such as fire codes. This role demands attentiveness in enforcing facility policies like no smoking and no re-entry to maintain a pleasant environment for all attendees.

In addition to customer interaction, Ushers/Ticket Takers are trained to identify and respond effectively to emergencies, coordinating with security or supervisors when needed and assisting in safely directing guests to designated safety areas. Candidates are expected to demonstrate excellent communication skills, a professional demeanor, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Flexibility in working hours is essential as shifts may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and are seasonal or casual in nature.

This role involves physical demands such as standing for extended periods, climbing stairs in low-light conditions, and moving quickly across the venue. The Mayo Civic Center values individuals with prior experience in customer service and a high school diploma or GED, although these are preferred rather than required. The organization supports inclusivity and encourages women, minorities, individuals with disabilities, and protected veterans to apply. With paid sick leave and a focus on creating positive guest experiences, the Ushers/Ticket Takers position offers a dynamic opportunity to be part of a thriving event environment that balances guest engagement, safety, and operational excellence.
