Job Description

Sam's Club, a leading membership-only retail warehouse club, is known for offering quality products and services at outstanding value, helping members save money and time. As part of Walmart Inc., one of the world's largest retailers, Sam's Club operates numerous locations across the United States and beyond, providing a wide range of merchandise including groceries, electronics, home and garden items, and prepared foods. The company values inclusivity, customer service, and operational excellence, fostering a culture where associates grow professionally and personally. Sam's Club focuses on creating a positive impact on members, associates, and the communities it serves by embracing innovation, teamwork, and integrity. The associate benefits program is robust, covering health, financial, and paid time off benefits, as well as educational opportunities through its Live Better U program.

The Prepared Foods and Café Department Lead role at Sam's Club is a vital leadership position designed for an individual passionate about food service and retail operations. This role involves driving sales and overseeing a team of hourly associates responsible for creating and serving high-quality meals to club members, offering them more value and convenience. The Department Lead must possess a thorough understanding of prepared foods operations, including retail floor management and backroom production, ensuring all areas comply with company and regulatory standards for quality, safety, and sanitation.

As a leader, the Department Lead will foster teamwork by supervising rotations across fresh food areas such as café, rotisserie, and other prepared foods sections. They will communicate departmental goals clearly, execute company programs, and advocate on behalf of the members, associates, and the company. This leadership position requires a collaborative approach, working alongside other team leaders to enhance the overall club experience, ensuring customer satisfaction and achievement of business objectives.

This role demands proficiency in digital tools to plan and drive sales, enhance the member shopping experience, and increase associate engagement. Effective use of handheld technologies enables immediate business decisions regarding production, training, product quality, and adoption of new tools. Operational excellence is paramount, including managing inventory, maintaining sanitary and safe work environments, staffing appropriately, managing audits, and upholding compliance standards.

Moreover, the Department Lead serves as a talent ambassador by identifying training needs, developing skills within the team, encouraging career growth, and sourcing new talent to maintain a high-performing department. They will be instrumental in developing processes and practices to meet evolving business demands, analyzing performance data, and leading continuous improvement initiatives.

Cultural values such as Respect the Individual, Act with Integrity, Serve our Customers and Members, and Strive for Excellence are fundamental expectations for the role. The Department Lead is expected to promote a supportive and inclusive workplace, practice ethical behavior, prioritize customer needs, and seek ongoing development and innovation. Sam's Club offers competitive pay starting from $22.00 to $30.00 per hour, along with performance-based bonus awards and comprehensive benefits, including health coverage, financial benefits, paid time off, and other valuable perks. This role is a great opportunity for those keen on food retail leadership within a dynamic and supportive environment focused on growth and excellence.
