The role of the US Licensed Customs Broker at Echo Global Logistics involves critical responsibilities in managing U.S. customs brokerage accounts. The successful candidate will be accountable for setting up or onboarding new client accounts while managing day-to-day business activities to ensure smooth operations. This position involves not only direct account management but also supervising and leading the customs brokerage account management team, thereby maintaining Echo’s high service standards and company values. The US Licensed Customs Broker will ensure all shipments are cleared efficiently and compliantly according to client-specific SOPs and prevailing U.S. customs regulations. This involves a deep understanding of U.S. Customs Law, trade agreements, government agency requirements, and detailed knowledge of client expectations.
Additionally, the broker is a key liaison between sales teams, customers, partners, and internal departments such as the Mexico operations team to manage door-to-door shipment execution. Responsibilities include oversight of credit setup during onboarding, preparation of customs proposals for prospective customers, billing accuracy related to customs fees and duties, and collaboration with collections when necessary. Strong coordination with local carriers and Echo Mexico operations is vital to manage local transportation aspects effectively. This role requires meticulous tracking and monitoring of shipments, performing root cause analysis for service failures, and instituting corrective and preventive actions to uphold high service quality. Beyond logistics execution, the US Licensed Customs Broker prepares performance reports, manages account manager incentive goals, and ensures continuous communication to maintain and grow customer relationships.
This position demands a seasoned professional with a minimum of ten years of experience in U.S. Customs cross-border operations and a valid Customs Broker License issued by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, demonstrating excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish, strong interpersonal abilities, and the capacity to independently manage multiple priorities. Furthermore, negotiation, conflict resolution, critical thinking, salesmanship, and presentation skills are essential components for success. Echo Global Logistics values diversity and inclusion, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration regardless of race, color, religion, gender identity, or other protected characteristics. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work with industry leaders within a growing, technologically innovative company dedicated to advancing the customs brokerage and cross-border logistics sector.Show Less
