The Maintenance Manager role at HelloFresh is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the maintenance and reliability of multiple sites and equipment essential to the company’s operations. This role demands a hands-on approach to leadership, including motivating, engaging, and coaching a team of associate managers and technicians to promote a positive and proactive team environment. The Maintenance Manager will manage and maintain automation and manufacturing equipment, electrical and refrigeration systems, material handling equipment such as forklifts, and the overall building and grounds upkeep across several facilities. The role involves ensuring that all maintenance practices comply with safety and food quality standards while facilitating both planned and unplanned repairs through effective vendor management.

Additionally, the Maintenance Manager will provide robust project management support, collaborating cross-functionally within the distribution center to identify maintenance issues and generate continuous improvement ideas. This position requires a dynamic individual who is agile and decisive, capable of managing projects in a fast-paced and highly autonomous environment. The role plays a key part in promoting a safety-first culture and upholding food safety and quality standards. The position occasionally requires backfilling the Associate Maintenance Manager role when necessary, demonstrating flexibility and leadership versatility.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience managing facilities maintenance/operations and reliability within the Food/Beverage/Perishables/Distribution industry
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and schematics
  • Exposure to mechanical, electrical, automation and refrigeration systems
  • Comfortable working in cold environments with some areas of facility at 40F
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays and/or nights
  • High level of integrity and ethics with excellent follow-through

Job Duties

  • Oversee M&R processes including maintenance of automation and manufacturing equipment, electrical, refrigeration, PIT equipment (forklifts), building, grounds, and overall upkeep of multiple buildings
  • Motivate, engage, coach, and inspire a team of associate managers and technicians, creating a positive team dynamic
  • Provide project management support
  • Manage outside vendors and facilitate planned and unplanned repairs
  • Ensure that maintenance regulations are followed
  • Maintain a current list of contractors to handle emergency repairs
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify problems and brainstorm improvement ideas
  • Promote food safety, quality, and a safety-first culture
  • Backfill Associate Maintenance Manager role when needed (call off, PTO requests)
