The role of Class A Driver at Core-Mark is critical within the food supply chain, ensuring timely and safe delivery of food products and food service items to customers. These drivers are more than just transporters; they represent the company’s commitment to reliability and customer service, building lasting relationships as they fulfill their delivery duties. Core-Mark urgently seeks drivers of all experience levels for team routes that operate Monday to Friday. The pay structure starts with a competitive rate during training, transitioning to compensation based on stops, loads, and miles driven, offering top performers potential earnings between $80,000 and $100,000 within the first year. This role requires dedication to safety, regulatory compliance with Department of Transportation standards, and a customer-focused attitude. Drivers perform essential pre- and post-trip inspections, handle freight securely, complete accurate paperwork, and provide excellent onsite customer service including collecting payments when necessary. They must also maintain the cleanliness and safety of their equipment, report any hazards or necessary repairs, and adhere to strict hours of service regulations. This position demands physical capability due to the handling of freight weighing up to 90 pounds and the ability to use various equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates. Job Requirements

  • valid CDL-A license
  • must be 21+ years of age
  • meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • pass road test
  • attains or has valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
  • able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight

Job Qualifications

  • Valid CDL-A license
  • must be 21+ years of age
  • meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • pass road test
  • attains or has valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
  • able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight
  • 6+ months commercial driving experience preferred
  • 1+ years foodservice distribution industry experience preferred
  • onboard computer and electronic log system experience (i.e., PeopleNet) preferred
  • hand-held point of delivery scanning system experience (i.e., POD) preferred
  • customer service-related work experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
  • reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
  • follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • immediately reports all safety hazards
  • inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of products that have been loaded
  • checks and completes all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly
  • moves tractor to the loading dock and attaches the preloaded trailer as needed
  • drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • unloads products from the trailer and transports items into designated customer storage areas
  • performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
  • verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
  • collects money (cash or checks) where required
  • loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
  • ensures that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured at all times
  • unloads damaged goods and customer returns and brings them to driver check-in completing necessary paperwork
  • unloads all equipment and materials and removes trash from trailers as required
  • completes daily record of hours of service and enters in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keeps trailers clear and clean as required
  • secures all equipment and completes all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift
  • performs other related duties as assigned
