Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum one year of unit secretary experience preferred
  • Completion of one year of college or minimum one year experience in medical field preferred
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology required
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient rights
  • Able to speak, read, and write English clearly
  • Spanish language skills preferred
  • Proficient in computer and relevant equipment use
  • Able to perform clerical activities and basic math functions
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure
  • Must follow policies assertively and professionally
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks and prioritizing workload
  • Able to distinguish colors and sounds relevant to work
  • Basic life support certification as required

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Completion of one year of college or minimum one year experience in medical field preferred
  • Minimum one year of unit secretary experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology required
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, Spanish preferred
  • Proficient in using computer software, printers, and relevant equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to work calmly under pressure and manage multiple assignments
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification required or obtainable during orientation

Job Duties

  • Perform secretarial and receptionist duties to support unit operations
  • Greet and screen visitors and patients upon arrival
  • Recognize and respond to potentially dangerous situations with visitors, patients, and families
  • Coordinate patient flow and assist in scheduling diagnostic testing as ordered
  • Maintain supplies, equipment, and forms required by the unit
  • Utilize interpersonal skills to maximize customer service, safety, and professionalism
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure efficient unit functioning
