Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of specialized health unit coordinator training program preferred
- Entry level experience
- Proficiency with personal computers
- Knowledge of medical terminology
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Specialized training in health unit coordination (6 months to 2 years) preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Proficiency in use of personal computers
- Familiarity with electronic health records systems such as Sunrise is advantageous
Job Duties
- Acts as a receptionist and performs general clerical duties in assigned area
- Prepares, updates and maintains patient charts
- Transcribes physician orders
- Assists with processing admissions, transfers and discharge papers for patients
- Schedules treatments and tests
- Maintains needed supplies
- Serves as a resource for physicians, staff, patients and visitors regarding hospital activities and policies
- Ensures complete charts are sent to appropriate areas for transfers and discharges
- Assists in orientations and training of new staff and student clinical rotations as requested
