Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of specialized health unit coordinator training program preferred
Entry level experience
Proficiency with personal computers
Knowledge of medical terminology

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
Specialized training in health unit coordination (6 months to 2 years) preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology
Proficiency in use of personal computers
Familiarity with electronic health records systems such as Sunrise is advantageous

Job Duties

Acts as a receptionist and performs general clerical duties in assigned area
Prepares, updates and maintains patient charts
Transcribes physician orders
Assists with processing admissions, transfers and discharge papers for patients
Schedules treatments and tests
Maintains needed supplies
Serves as a resource for physicians, staff, patients and visitors regarding hospital activities and policies
Ensures complete charts are sent to appropriate areas for transfers and discharges
Assists in orientations and training of new staff and student clinical rotations as requested
