As a faith and values-based organization affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the center emphasizes compassion, excellence, humility, integrity, justice, teamwork, and wholeness in every aspect of patient care and organizational culture. Located in Murrieta, California, this medical center has built a reputable legacy for delivering high-quality, patient-centered healthcare services while fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment. Loma Linda University Medical Center Murrieta is committed to equal opportunity employment and offers supportive accommodations to ensure all candidates can compete fairly in the hiring process.

The Part-time Unit Secretary for the PCU/Tele Unit plays a critical role in facilitating smooth operations and promoting optimal patient flow within a healthcare setting. Working under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, the Unit Secretary performs essential secretarial and receptionist duties that contribute to the efficient functioning of the assigned unit or department. This position demands exceptional interpersonal skills, as the Unit Secretary is responsible for greeting and screening the public, recognizing and responding to potentially dangerous situations involving visitors and patients, and maintaining a professional and safe environment. The role requires coordination of diagnostic testing as ordered by physicians or nurse practitioners, as well as management of supplies, equipment, and forms essential for day-to-day operations.

An ideal candidate would have a high school diploma or GED, with preferred experience in unit secretarial duties or a background in the medical field. Proficiency in basic medical terminology, HIPAA guidelines, patient rights, and computer software relevant to the role is essential. Bilingual abilities, particularly in English and Spanish, are advantageous in providing excellent customer service to a diverse patient and visitor population. The Unit Secretary must demonstrate an ability to work calmly and courteously under pressure, organize and prioritize workload effectively, and collaborate with nursing staff to problem solve and enhance unit efficiency. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association is either required before or obtained shortly after joining through orientation.

This part-time position offers an opportunity for those interested in a support role within a dynamic medical setting where faith, care, and professionalism merge. The evening shift demands individuals who can maintain composure while managing multiple assignments, handling confidential patient information with discretion, and contributing positively to a culturally diverse workforce. Loma Linda University Medical Center Murrieta provides a meaningful workplace culture inspired by its core values and mission, encouraging candidates who align with this vision to apply. This role is fundamental in ensuring patient-centered care and operational excellence, positioning the Unit Secretary as a vital link between patients, healthcare providers, and the broader hospital environment.
