Job Description
Constellation is a leading hospitality brand specializing in providing high-quality business dining and catering experiences across the United States. Known for its commitment to building every meal around the core values of connection and hospitality, Constellation serves a broad range of clients from retail spaces to major office buildings. Their culinary services are designed not just to nourish but to engage and foster lasting relationships through thoughtfully prepared meals and impeccable service. As part of the Elior North America family, Constellation benefits from the support and vision of a major food service company committed to growth, diversity, and career advancement opportunities for its team members.
Elior North America, the parent company, is a recognized equal opportunity employer dedicated to inclusivity and ensuring that all qualified candidates receive fair consideration regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or veteran status. The organization places a strong emphasis on employee development across all levels—encouraging ongoing learning, skill enhancement, and career progression within its multiple brand segments including Constellation.
The Unit Chef position available with Constellation in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is a full-time, onsite role that offers a competitive salary range of $90,000 to $100,000 per year, dependent on experience. This role is perfect for an experienced and motivated culinary professional who enjoys managing diverse back-of-house (BOH) operations, including retail and catering services within a vibrant Cultural Center environment.
As the Unit Chef, you will take lead responsibility for planning, organizing, and supervising all culinary operations ensuring that food quality and service standards exceed expectations while managing costs efficiently. This position requires a robust understanding of menu development informed by current market trends, customer preferences, and nutritional guidelines. Collaboration with district managers and other departments is crucial as you will regularly coordinate dining services and align your kitchen team's efforts with broader organizational goals.
A key aspect of the Unit Chef role includes directing and coordinating the work of the kitchen staff to maintain a productive, disciplined, and harmonious work environment. This includes ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining excellent sanitation standards, and fostering a team culture of high performance and continuous improvement. You will be expected to troubleshoot operational challenges, implement creative culinary solutions, and contribute to the ongoing success and reputation of Constellation’s services.
This role is tailored for candidates who possess certification from a recognized culinary institution or an equivalent blend of education and experiential knowledge. Candidates should bring at least five years of culinary management experience, demonstrating financial acumen with the ability to control food costs without sacrificing quality. Strong leadership and communication skills are critical to excel in this role, ensuring seamless daily operations and effective staff management.
Additional desirable traits for the Unit Chef include flexibility to travel as needed to various locations or events—making this an excellent opportunity for culinary professionals seeking a dynamic and engaging work environment. Benefits such as medical, dental, vision coverage, voluntary insurance options, commuter benefits, paid time off, and tuition reimbursement provide a comprehensive support system designed to maintain well-being and professional growth.
By joining Constellation and Elior North America, the successful candidate will be a key contributor to a respected company that values innovation, inclusion, and excellence in the culinary arts. The role not only offers the chance to lead a significant culinary operation but also to grow within an organization that is deeply committed to employee development and community impact.
