Job Description
Union Kitchen is a distinguished dining destination located in West Hartford, CT, known for its New American cuisine and exceptional hospitality. As a proud member of the Bean Restaurant Group family, Union Kitchen benefits from being part of an established full-service restaurant management company with a legacy dating back to 1965. Bean Restaurant Group operates over 15 restaurants across Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut, employing more than 400 dedicated staff. The group’s values center on integrity and genuine hospitality, making it a rewarding place to build a culinary career. Union Kitchen itself is renowned for winning the Wine Spectator Award, a mark of excellence in its beverage offerings that perfectly complement its culinary creations.
The barback position at Union Kitchen is primarily tailored for individuals who are passionate about hospitality and eager to contribute to an outstanding food and beverage environment. This role is specifically aligned with weekend availability, targeting Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, making it ideal for candidates looking for part-time weekend engagements. The barback's responsibilities are crucial in maintaining the seamless operation of the bar, ensuring that bartenders and staff are supported efficiently during often busy service hours.
The successful candidate will find themselves working in a fast-paced atmosphere where attention to detail and teamwork are highly valued traits. This role involves maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bar and its surrounding areas, coordinating with bartenders and kitchen staff to keep food and beverage supplies adequately stocked, and maintaining communication with customers regarding their orders. It requires multitasking skills and a proactive approach to anticipate the needs of both customers and staff.
Ideal candidates will be those who thrive in hospitality-driven environments and are motivated by the desire to provide exceptional experiences to every guest. This opportunity allows individuals to learn and grow within a collaborative and supportive team. While two years of experience in a similar role is preferred, Union Kitchen and Bean Restaurant Group are willing to train enthusiastic candidates who demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and contribute positively to the company culture.
Overall, this role offers a unique chance to become part of a well-respected hospitality group with a rich history and a proven track record of excellence in the restaurant industry. Candidates who enjoy a dynamic work environment and are passionate about contributing to outstanding food and beverage service will find this role rewarding and full of opportunity.
