Job Description

Uncle Tetsu is a globally recognized Asian-inspired bakery established in 1985 by Tetsushi Mizokami, best known for its signature Japanese Cheesecakes. With over 80 locations worldwide, Uncle Tetsu has cultivated a reputation for delivering sweet, fluffy, and high-quality cheesecakes that feature the iconic Uncle Tetsu character stamp. The bakery emphasizes authentic flavors and craftsmanship in all its baked goods, including a variety of cakes, cookies, and tarts. Uncle Tetsu's commitment to quality and tradition has allowed it to become a beloved bakery brand internationally, attracting customers who appreciate delicately prepared desserts that capture the essence of Japanese culinary artistry.

The Baker role at Uncle Tetsu is a hands-on culinary position responsible for preparing cakes, cookies, and tarts according to established company recipes and high standards for flavor, color, and aroma. The Baker ensures the production of consistently exceptional products, maintaining the bakery's hallmark quality. This role requires someone who can both perform baking duties independently and also guide and assist Baker Assistants. The Baker must be proficient in all baking techniques relevant to the products offered and capable of leading others through training and support.

Employment for this role falls within the operations team of a high-volume bakery setting, requiring a reliable attendance and a strong work ethic. The pay range for this position typically falls between $21.50 and $24.50 per hour, depending on location and experience. A typical work environment involves heat exposure from kitchen equipment, physical demands such as lifting up to 50 pounds, and standing for extended periods. Flexibility, adaptability, and effective communication skills are critical for success given the fast-paced, dynamic bakery environment.

Uncle Tetsu prioritizes food safety, requiring employees to fulfill local food handler certification requirements at their own expense. The company embraces diversity and inclusion, offering equal employment opportunities and reasonable accommodations in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Uncle Tetsu values team members who bring passion for baking, a commitment to excellence, and a positive attitude to contribute to an inviting atmosphere for customers and fellow staff members alike.

This Baker opportunity provides an excellent stepping stone into the food service and baking industry, offering excellent benefits including flexible schedules, competitive pay, and comprehensive training. Bakers who excel have opportunities for career advancement, including progression into leadership and management positions within the growing global bakery chain. Uncle Tetsu supports its employees with medical, dental, and vision insurance options for qualifying associates, as well as retirement savings plans and other benefits that promote work-life balance and professional growth.
