The Driver role at Core-Mark is critical in sustaining efficient and timely distribution operations by transporting food and food-related products safely to customers. This full-time position offers a competitive compensation package, including a minimum weekly pay of $1250 (subject to meeting weekly requirements, discussed during the interview), with potential annual earnings exceeding $80,000 and monthly bonuses up to $1,600. The typical shift runs Monday to Friday with early dispatch times between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. Drivers operate tractor-trailers or straight trucks, handling tasks such as performing safety inspections, managing freight loading and unloading, verifying delivery documentation, and ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The role demands a strong commitment to safety standards, excellent communication with customers and team members, and a proactive approach to maintaining the quality and security of products during transit. Drivers are also responsible for completing accurate delivery paperwork, managing cash or check transactions where applicable, and performing housekeeping duties to maintain cleanliness and order around loading areas and equipment. Job Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent
- Valid CDL-A license
- Minimum 12 months tractor/trailer driving experience
- 21 years of age or older
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- Valid DOT health card or ability to obtain one
- Ability to hand-lift and operate equipment to move freight of varying weights
- Availability for early morning shifts Monday to Friday
- Ability to perform physical demands of the job including lifting up to 90 pounds
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent
- 12+ months tractor/trailer driving experience
- Valid CDL-A must be 21+ years of age
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- Attains or has valid current DOT health card or able to secure new DOT health card
- Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift
Job Duties
- Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
- Inspects tractor/truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards and takes appropriate action as needed
- Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
- Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- Immediately reports all safety hazards
- Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- Performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of products that have been loaded
- Checks and completes all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly
- Moves tractor to the loading dock and attaches the preloaded trailer as needed
- Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
- Unloads products from the trailer and transports items into designated customer storage areas
- Performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
- Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
- Collects money where required
- Loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
- Ensures tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured at all times
- Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and brings them to driver check-in, completing necessary paperwork
- Unloads all equipment, materials and removes trash from trailers as required
- Completes daily records of hours of service and enters log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
- Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock area and keeps trailers clear and clean
- At the end of the shift secures all equipment and completes all necessary paperwork
- Performs other related duties as assigned
