The Food and Food Service Delivery Driver role within Core-Mark plays a vital part in sustaining the country’s food supply chain. Drivers act as the frontline representatives of the company, delivering goods with professionalism while cultivating lasting customer relationships. This position involves operating tractor-trailers or straight trucks on local, intrastate, interstate, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop routes, ensuring timely, safe delivery of food and related products. Drivers must comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and Core-Mark’s internal safety and operational standards. The role demands rigorous vehicle inspections, precise documentation, effective communication with customers, vendors, and colleagues, and a keen commitment to safety and customer satisfaction. Working Monday to Friday with early morning dispatch times, the position offers a competitive pay structure where drivers can earn up to $70,000 or more annually, alongside monthly bonuses of up to $1,600. Job Requirements

  • Ability to perform pre and post trip safety checks
  • Knowledge of and compliance with DOT regulations
  • Ability to operate tractor-trailer and straight truck safely
  • Strong communication skills to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers
  • Accuracy and attention to detail when completing freight paperwork
  • Physical ability to lift products ranging between 10-35 pounds and up to 60-90 pounds
  • Ability to work early morning shifts from Monday to Friday
  • Valid CDL-A and meet state licensing requirements
  • Clean motor vehicle record
  • Pass required road tests
  • Maintain current or obtain DOT Health Card

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
  • 12+ months tractor/trailer driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • Pass road test
  • Attains or has valid current DOT Health Card or able to secure new DOT Health Card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move and stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift

Job Duties

  • Performs all required safety checks including pre and post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
  • Inspects tractor/truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed
  • Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
  • Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Immediately reports all safety hazards
  • Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of products that have been loaded
  • Checks and completes all required paperwork accurately and legibly associated with freight
  • Moves tractor to the loading dock and attaches the preloaded trailer as needed
  • Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • Unloads products from the trailer, transports items into designated customer storage areas
  • Performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
  • Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
  • Collects money where required
  • Loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
  • Ensures tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured
  • Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and completes necessary paperwork
  • Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock area
  • Completes daily record of hours of service and enters in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
