The Driver role at Core-Mark is vital to its operational success, acting as the backbone for timely and safe delivery of food and food-related products to a diverse customer base. This position is classified as a full-time employment opportunity providing competitive pay and benefits. Drivers can expect a minimum weekly pay of $1250, contingent upon meeting minimum weekly requirements discussed during the interview process. With earning potential reaching $80,000 or more annually, complemented by an eligible monthly bonus of up to $1600, this role offers rewarding financial incentives. The driver’s shift is Monday through Friday with an early morning dispatch time between 3:00 am and 6:00 am.

In this critical role, the Driver will be responsible for operating tractor-trailer or straight trucks on various routes including intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight drive-and-drop assignments. The driver ensures the safe, compliant transportation and delivery of goods aligned with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies. Attention to safety is paramount, involving pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections to maintain vehicle condition and compliance. The Driver also undertakes proper loading, unloading, and documentation of freight, often utilizing equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to manage cargo ranging from 10 to 90 pounds.

Beyond the technical driving responsibilities, Core-Mark Drivers are expected to foster positive interactions with customers, vendors, and coworkers, demonstrating professionalism and accuracy in communications. The role requires vigilant adherence to all safety guidelines, reporting any hazards or maintenance needs promptly, and delivering exceptional customer service that includes verifying completed deliveries and obtaining customer signatures. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 12 months tractor/trailer driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Meet all applicable state licensing or certification requirements
  • Attain or currently hold valid DOT health card
  • Ability to hand-lift and operate material handling equipment
  • Capability to safely lift products generally ranging between 10 to 90 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • 12+ months tractor/trailer driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • Valid current DOT health card or ability to secure new DOT health card
  • Ability to hand-lift and use two-wheeler, lift gate, or other equipment for moving and stacking product cases/freight

Job Duties

  • Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
  • Inspect tractor/truck and trailer to ensure compliance with company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed
  • Report all safety issues and/or repairs required
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Perform count check of items and verify customer invoices of loaded products
  • Complete all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly
  • Move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
  • Drive and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • Unload products from trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas
  • Perform damage control checks on items, scan, and contact supervisor about order removals according to company policy
  • Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
  • Collect money where required
  • Load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors
  • Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or always secured
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
  • Perform daily record of hours of service and enter logs in compliance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock area
  • Secure all equipment and complete all paperwork at the end of shift
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
