Job Description
Core-Mark, a Performance Food Group Company, is a leading distributor of fresh and broad-line products to the convenience retail industry. As part of a Fortune 150 company, Core-Mark has established a strong reputation for empowering its customers, employees, and communities. The company generates over 23 billion dollars in revenue through its extensive network of distribution centers across the United States and Canada. Core-Mark is committed to delivering exceptional value and service to its clients, supporting the vital food supply chain that reaches millions of consumers every day. With a focus on innovation, safety, and inclusivity, Core-Mark fosters a culture where employees can grow professionally while contributing to the company’s long-term success.
The Food and Food Service Delivery Driver plays a crucial role in Core-Mark’s operations by ensuring that food products are delivered safely, timely, and in excellent condition to various customers. This full-time position typically operates Monday through Friday, starting early morning hours at 4 AM and continuing until the day's deliveries are completed. Drivers have the opportunity to earn competitive wages ranging from $80,000 to $100,000 per year, reflecting the importance of their contribution to the company’s logistics network. Employment includes comprehensive benefits from day one, such as health and wellness plans, employee stock purchase options, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off. Drivers will sometimes need to accommodate 1-2 overnight trips per week, which requires flexibility and commitment.
In this delivery role, drivers routinely operate tractor-trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, covering local, over-the-road, shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop deliveries. They serve as the face of the company by professionally interacting with customers and vendors to maintain strong relationships and ensure precision in delivery details. Responsibilities also encompass performing thorough safety inspections and maintenance checks to comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, managing accurate documentation and freight handling, and following company policies on secure transport and delivery processes.
Core-Mark prioritizes safety and accountability, requiring drivers to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, report any safety concerns promptly, meticulously verify freight loads and invoices, and responsibly handle customer returns and payments. Drivers must also maintain logs compliant with federal and state DOT regulations. Alongside these core tasks, the role demands physical capability to handle freight ranging from 10 to 90 pounds using equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates, and the ability to perform general housekeeping within vehicles and dock areas.
Working at Core-Mark provides drivers with a safe, supportive, and inclusive work environment where rewards and recognition are integral to the culture. Growth opportunities abound for drivers seeking advancement within the company, backed by leadership committed to employee development and well-being. This position not only ensures vital deliveries that keep America’s food distribution system operating smoothly but also offers a stable and rewarding career path for qualified individuals.
