Job Description
Dot Transportation, Inc. (DTI) is the exclusive transportation affiliate of Dot Foods, which stands as North America's largest food redistributor. As a family-owned and operated company headquartered in Perrysburg, Ohio, DTI has established a strong culture centered around respect, inclusion, and care for its employees. The company’s expansive fleet consists of more than 1,500 trucks, maintained meticulously by their own team of dedicated mechanics, ensuring both reliability and safety. With a long history of growth and stability evidenced by zero layoffs, DTI continues to offer competitive benefits, fostering an environment where drivers are valued as integral team members. The firm prioritizes work-life balance and flexibility, recognizing the importance of these factors to employees’ long-term satisfaction and success.
The role of a Class A CDL driver at DTI offers an exciting opportunity for individuals who love the open road and desire a professional career in transportation. As a Customer Delivery Specialist, No-Touch Freight driver, or Team Driver, you will play a vital role in the supply chain by picking up products from Dot Foods suppliers and delivering them safely to customers and distribution centers. This full-time position comes with various scheduling options, including traditional shifts of approximately 5.5 days per week or 6 days on and 3 days off rotations, accommodating different lifestyles and preferences.
Beyond just driving, DTI emphasizes rigorous safety standards and operational efficiency. Drivers are expected to comply with all relevant legal and regulatory bodies such as the Department of Transportation and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. The company supports its drivers with advanced equipment and comprehensive training, fostering a safety-first mindset that is crucial for protecting both personnel and freight. Additionally, depending on the job type, drivers may be responsible for loading and unloading goods, maintaining awareness of product conditions including dry and temperature-controlled cargo, and managing important variables such as fuel purchases, miles per gallon, idle time, and speed.
Physical activity and stamina are part of the daily routine, requiring drivers to lift weights up to an average of 14 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds, reflecting the hands-on nature of some roles within DTI. The job necessitates adaptability to all weather conditions, including working weekdays, weekends, days, and nights.
DTI’s commitment to its workforce extends beyond fair compensation, offering a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical and dental insurance, a 401(k) plan, profit-sharing opportunities, and bonuses tied to performance. The company also promotes significant advancement prospects, making it an attractive workplace for career-driven individuals seeking stability and growth in the transportation industry. Inclusive workplace policies ensure equal employment opportunity regardless of gender, race, religion, or other protected categories, underscoring the company’s dedication to diversity and fairness.
For motivated drivers looking to bring professionalism, safety, and efficiency to a top-tier transportation company, DTI provides not just a job, but a rewarding career path in a supportive environment where you can earn the respect you deserve while living your dream on the open road.
