Job Description

Suburban Propane Partners, L.P., commonly known as Suburban Propane, is a publicly traded master limited partnership listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Headquartered in Whippany, New Jersey, Suburban Propane has a rich history dating back to 1928, serving customers for nearly 100 years with a steadfast commitment to quality and service. The company stands out in the energy sector as a nationwide distributor of propane, renewable propane, renewable natural gas (RNG), fuel oil, and related products and services. Additionally, Suburban Propane is an active marketer of natural gas and electricity, as well as a producer and investor in low carbon fuel alternatives. With a network of approximately 700 locations spread across 42 states, the company caters to the energy needs of around 1 million residential, commercial, governmental, industrial, and agricultural customers.

Suburban Propane operates with three core pillars: the Suburban Commitment, which underscores its nearly century-long legacy of dependability, flexibility, and reliability; SuburbanCares, which highlights the company's dedication to supporting local communities across its national footprint; and Go Green with Suburban Propane, promoting the clean-burning nature of propane and renewable propane as a bridge to a greener energy future while investing in innovative renewable energy solutions. The organization holds its employees and customers in the highest regard, valuing safety, customer satisfaction, professional training and development, and teamwork.

You will be home every night, supporting a healthy work-life balance. The role demands exceptional customer service skills, attention to vehicle safety and maintenance, and responsible handling of inventory and customer transactions using a user-friendly handheld terminal.

Suburban Propane offers new hires a comprehensive new employee training program and continuous opportunities for learning and career development, ensuring that every delivery driver is well-prepared and supported. The company is committed to the physical, mental, and financial wellbeing of its employees by providing a competitive salary with incentive potential and a generous benefits package. This package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance eligibility after just 30 days, paid time off with increases based on tenure, a 401(k) plan with company match and immediate vesting, disability and life insurance, an employee recognition program, tuition assistance, and propane discounts.

Suburban Propane also provides support for drivers who may not yet possess the required endorsements to operate company vehicles, such as Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with HAZMAT, tanker, and air brake endorsements. The company will provide the time and training to help drivers obtain these certifications. Beyond driving expertise, candidates must demonstrate the ability to lift and pull equipment weight between 50 to 75 pounds and meet the English language proficiency qualifications to ensure safety and clear communication on the job.

With nearly a century of experience and a strong national presence, Suburban Propane is expanding its footprint and actively contributing to a sustainable energy future. Joining Suburban Propane means becoming part of a diverse and inclusive team dedicated to making a positive impact in the communities served nationwide. As an Equal Opportunity Employer, the company considers all applicants fairly, including those with criminal histories, consistent with applicable laws and fair chance hiring ordinances.
