Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in food service or related field preferred
- Ability to stand and walk frequently
- Ability to lift and carry 35 pounds occasionally with assistance
- Basic reading and writing skills
- Ability to follow detailed instructions
- Willingness to work evening shifts
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- Compliance with safety and sanitation regulations
Job Qualifications
- Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control
- Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions
- Ability to read and write
- Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
- Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects
- Knowledge of food service lines set-up and temperature requirements
- Skill in cooking and preparing a variety of foods
- Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards
Job Duties
- Work assigned station on tray line or point of distribution (POD) as hot server, builder, checker
- Prepare and deliver patient food trays
- Work in truck room and dish room area organizing dirty dishes and trays, operate dish machine, transport clean dishes to tray line
- Clean, sanitize, and dry patient food trucks
- Prepare workstation with utensils, containers and plates for meal service
- Alert appropriate personnel if additional products or supplies are needed or if there are issues with food quality or temperature
- Break down and restock workstations after meal service
- Wash assigned areas of tray line or POD and stock refrigerators, checking and reporting temperatures
- Deliver food trucks to patient floors and ensure placement in galleys
- Pick up food tray trucks after meal periods
- Deliver outpatient and inpatient meals to various departments as needed
- Pick-up and store supplies from DSC and rotate stock according to FIFO procedures
- Sweep and mop tray line area and hallway, remove trash to refuse area
- Remove empty milk and bread crates to DSC
- Answer telephone calls and report needs to supervisor
- Handle food, supplies, and equipment according to federal, state, local and Joint Commission regulations
- Provide customer service while maintaining patient rights and confidentiality
