This position is a full-time traveling assignment that supports projects across the United States within a variety of high-impact market segments, including Aviation, Data Center, Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Industrial/Manufacturing, and Electric Vehicle (EV)/Battery/Renewables sectors. The role focuses on partnering with EH&S and project teams to enforce site compliance with corporate EH&S programs, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements on individual construction projects within the assigned business unit's geographic area. The key function of this position is to lead and direct all aspects of Environmental Health and Safety on a single construction project, based on safety staffing requirements laid out by Headquarters EH&S policies. The EH&S professional in this role will be responsible for managing time and resource allocation while providing leadership on safety issues to the assigned project team. Additionally, this position demands active assessment of the project’s safety practices, identification of safety risks and exposures, and the development and implementation of action plans to mitigate such risks.

A significant portion of the job involves communicating safety requirements and performance improvements to project leadership and teams, utilizing project-specific safety standards, best management practices, and EH&S policies and procedures. The position demands a proactive approach to understanding safety trends onsite and contributing toward efforts to reduce incident rates to meet or exceed established business unit goals. Another important aspect is the development and delivery of training programs tailored to the project site-specific needs, aimed at educating project management, employees, subcontractors, and company personnel on EH&S policies, procedures, and safe work practices. This training function supports the promotion and enforcement of safe work environments compliant with company and federal, state, and local regulations, as well as contractual obligations related to owners.

The professional is expected to maintain and enhance effective working relationships with project staff and subcontractor safety representatives, fostering collaboration to support overall safety on site. Responsibilities further extend to the development and enforcement of project-specific safety programs and related policies, ensuring unsafe actions and conditions are swiftly corrected in compliance with company, federal, state, local, and owner requirements. The role also involves holding preconstruction planning meetings with subcontractors to review their safety programs and job hazard analyses to establish risk mitigation plans. The position requires vigilance in verifying subcontractor training according to OSHA standards and conducting worker orientation programs for new employees, guaranteeing thorough documentation and participation.

In partnership with project leadership, the role includes the creation of project-specific safety reports, the assessment of safety metrics, and the recommendation of improvements to baseline performance. The EH&S professional must ensure the timely logging of subcontractors’ toolbox safety meetings and conduct thorough safety audits of project teams, including the issuance and prompt resolution of any violations or unsafe practices reported. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health, safety, environmental science, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety management on construction projects
  • Experience working with Federal, State, and Local safety regulations
  • Ability to travel extensively to support projects across the United States
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong computer skills including safety reporting software
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in training development and delivery

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in Environmental Health & Safety within Aviation, Data Center, Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Industrial/Manufacturing, or EV/Battery/Renewables market segments

Job Duties

  • Lead, direct, and enforce Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) on single construction project based on safety staffing requirements
  • Manage time and resource allocation and provide safety leadership to assigned project
  • Assess project safety practices and potential safety exposures, develop and implement action plans to mitigate risks, drive changes to improve safety awareness
  • Communicate requirements for improving performance to project leadership and team for adoption and adherence
  • Understand site safety trends and participate in reducing project incident rates to meet or exceed business unit goals
  • Develop training for project site-specific needs to educate project management, employees, subcontractors, and company personnel on EH&S programs and safe work practices
  • Promote safe work practices and working conditions in compliance with company policies and relevant regulations
  • Maintain and enhance working relationships with project staff and subcontractor safety representatives
  • Develop and enforce project safety program and related policies and procedures
  • Identify unsafe actions and conditions, implement immediate corrective actions as needed
  • Develop accountability model for pre-planning subcontractor activities
  • Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance with company and regulatory requirements
  • Review quality of pre-task plans for subcontractors
  • Hold preconstruction planning meetings with subcontractors to review safety programs and risk mitigation plans
  • Develop safety action items for preconstruction meetings and verify subcontractor OSHA training compliance
  • Conduct worker orientation programs and record participation
  • Collaborate with project leadership to create safety reports and assess metrics
  • Ensure timely logging of subcontractors' toolbox safety meetings
  • Conduct safety audits, assess corrective actions, and issue reports of violations for resolution
  • Perform other duties as assigned
