Job Requirements
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- high school graduate or equivalent education preferred
- minimum one year food service experience in a health care dietary setting
- knowledge of quantity food preparation and portioned serving
- physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- ability to stand and walk continuously throughout the working day
- good verbal and writing communication skills
- ability to read and follow recipe directions, diet orders and work assignments
- willingness to work flexible hours including during emergency situations
- must be patient and tolerant toward staff, residents and family members
Job Qualifications
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- high school graduate or equivalent education is preferred
- preference given to persons with education in quantity cooking and therapeutic diets
- minimum one year food service experience in a health care dietary setting is desired
- general knowledge of quantity food preparation and portioned serving
- Serve Safe Certified preferred
- ability to coach and teach within the kitchen
- ability to lead a group of peers
- customer service oriented
- knowledge of sanitation and safety practices
- time management skills
Job Duties
- Travel to different units to assist in culinary operations
- coordinate food preparation and meal service
- plan and initiate cooking schedule for food preparation to meet meal schedule
- prepare, season, cook and serve for assigned meal
- ensure appropriate portioned servings according to portion control standards
- prepare nutritional snacks for residents as directed by the Dietary Manager
- creatively collaborate with Dining Management on special events and menus
- monitor the temperature of hot and cold foods through food preparation and service to ensure temperature goals are met prior to steam table transfer and maintained throughout meal service
