This specific role is a Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) assignment based in Manchester, Connecticut. Fusion Medical Staffing is offering a 13-week contract for an experienced OR RN seeking an opportunity to impact patient care in a dynamic perioperative setting. The position offers competitive pay ranging from $2,299 to $2,446 per week and entails working five 8-hour day shifts each week. As the Operating Room RN, you will provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care to surgical patients, ensuring their safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes throughout the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases. Duties include preparing the operating room by ensuring all necessary instruments and sterile supplies are available and functional, assisting with patient positioning and preparation, maintaining the sterile field, anticipating surgical team needs, monitoring patient status, handling surgical instruments and specimens, and ensuring accurate documentation and communication. This role requires strong critical thinking, excellent interpersonal communication, physical stamina, and the ability to work effectively within the surgical team in a fast-paced environment.

Job Requirements
- One year of recent experience as an operating room RN
- valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
- ability to read and comprehend written instructions
- physical ability to remain stationary, move about, move equipment (50-100 lbs), push, pull, and bend
- interpersonal skills to work effectively with varied personnel
- technical and motor skills to grasp, manipulate, and assist during procedures
- mental capability to handle public contact, meet deadlines under pressure, work with and without supervision, and maintain concentration
- sensory ability with visual acuity and effective communication
Job Qualifications
- One year of recent experience as an operating room RN
- valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
- preferred certifications include ACLS (AHA/ARC), PALS (AHA/ARC), ENPC, OR nursing certification (CNOR)
- ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- proficiency in PC skills
Job Duties
- Prepares the operating room by ensuring all required instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and functional for each surgical procedure
- assists in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns and ensuring comfort and safety according to procedural requirements
- maintains a sterile field throughout surgical procedures and adheres to infection control protocols and sterile technique
- anticipates the needs of the surgical team, providing instruments, supplies, and support promptly to maintain efficient workflow
- monitors the patient's condition during surgery, documenting significant changes and notifying the surgeon
- handles surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring their proper use, sterilization, and disposal according to facility protocols
- manages specimen collection, labeling, and transport according to facility protocols, ensuring accurate diagnostic results
