Job Requirements
- Must reside greater than 4 hours from assigned location
- Provide scheduling flexibility to allow up to 14-day assignments
- Maintain flexibility of assigned base location
- Minimum of three years related paramedic experience
- Must be licensed as a registered EMT-P in state served
- Ability to maintain weight under 225 pounds including flight suit and boots
- Must pass state and company licensing and certification requirements
- Ability to work 14 days on and 14 days off schedule including 24-hour shifts
- Capability to travel over 50 percent of the time
- Must meet physical and medical requirements necessary for patient transport
- Subject to applicable employment laws and Air Methods policies
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED and at least three years of related experience or training
- Bachelor’s degree in health-related field preferred
- Minimum three years recent experience in a busy 911 system
- Previous critical care transport and flight experience preferred
- One year full-time flight experience required for per diem positions
- Skills as required by state scope of practice and Air Methods Medical Director
- Positive interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including 24-hour shifts and on-call rotation
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Registered EMT-P licensed in state served
- National certification required to meet state licensure
- Specialty certification FP-C or CCP-C required within two years of hire
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, ITLS/PHTLS certifications
- Completion of advanced trauma course and NRP certification
- Completion of NIMS IS 100, 200, 700, 800 and HazMat training
Job Duties
- Provides pre-hospital advanced life support care from initial contact until patient care is handed over, maintains patient care documentation
- Practices within state scope of practice and follows Air Methods CBS guidelines
- Maintains licensure, certifications, continuing education, and aviation safety training records
- Knowledgeable in use and maintenance of medical equipment, reports failures, ensures supply adequacy
- Participates in patient follow-up and outreach marketing and education activities
- Attends mission briefings and debriefings, assists pilots during flight, complies with safety standards
- Serves as a flight resource for neonatal/pediatric specialty patients, performs advanced approved procedures
