Job Requirements
- Must reside greater than 4 hours from assigned location
- Provide scheduling flexibility for 14-day assignments
- Maintain flexibility of assigned base location
- Indicate willingness to travel more than 50% of the time
- Able to maintain weight not exceeding 225 pounds
- Licensed paramedic in applicable state(s)
- Current and valid certifications as specified
- Ability to work 24-hour shifts, overtime, and on-call rotations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Dependable and self-motivated
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with related experience
- Bachelor's degree in health-related field preferred
- Minimum three years recent 911 system experience
- Previous critical care transport and flight experience preferred
- One year of full-time flight experience required for per diem positions
- Registered EMT-P licensed in state(s) served
- National certification may be required
- Specialty certification (FP-C or CCP-C) required within two years
- Current certifications in BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS, ITLS or PHTLS
- Completion of approved advanced trauma course
- NRP certification prior to third rider orientation
- Completion of NIMS training IS 100, 200, 700, 800 and HazMat
Job Duties
- Provides pre-hospital advanced life support care from initial contact until relinquishment to accepting medical facility
- maintains thorough patient care documentation
- Practices within scope of practice defined by state and Air Methods CBS
- Maintains competency in knowledge and psychomotor skills through ongoing education
- Reports medical equipment failures and ensures repair
- Keeps aircraft clean and supplies adequate
- Participates in patient and institution follow-up and outreach activities
- Attends pre-mission briefings and mission debriefings
- Assists pilot with radio, navigational, and visual observation tasks
- Conducts aircraft safety briefings
- Serves as flight resource for neonatal and pediatric transports
- Performs advanced skills per Medical Director approval
- Acts as role model, educator, and clinical resource
- Participates in departmental projects and committees
- Maintains awareness of current pre-hospital care issues
- Performs other duties as assigned
