Job Requirements
- Must reside greater than four hours from assigned location
- Provide scheduling flexibility for 14-day assignments
- Maintain flexibility of assigned base location
- Ability to travel more than 50% of time
- Maintain weight not to exceed 225 pounds including flight suit and boots
- Ability to work 24-hour shifts, overtime, and on-call rotations
- Compliance with Air Methods employment policies and safety standards
- Ability to perform advanced practice skills as defined by Medical Director
- Maintain all required certifications and training
- Demonstrate strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and multitasking in fast-paced environments
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with at least three years related experience or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in health-related field preferred
- Minimum three years recent experience in a busy 911 system
- Previous critical care and flight experience preferred
- One year of full-time flight experience required for per diem positions
- Registered EMT-P licensed in state(s) served
- National Certification as required for state licensure
- Specialty certification (FP-C or CCP-C) required within two years of hire
- Current certifications in BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS, and advanced provider ITLS or PHTLS as required
- Completion of an advanced trauma course prior to orientation
- NRP certification prior to third rider orientation
- NIMS training 100, 200, 700, 800 and HazMat upon hire
- Skills required to practice paramedic as per state scope and Medical Director standards
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
Job Duties
- Provide pre-hospital advanced life support care from initial contact to patient transfer
- Maintain thorough patient care documentation
- Practice within defined scope and maintain competency with ongoing education
- Maintain and report on medical equipment and supply status
- Participate in patient follow-up and outreach activities
- Attend pre-mission briefings and assist pilot duties
- Conduct aircraft safety briefings and comply with safety standards
- Serve as neonatal/pediatric flight resource and perform approved advanced skills
- Participate in departmental activities including research and committee work
- Perform other duties as assigned
