Job Description

The Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) serves as a vital federal agency tasked with enhancing the health and well-being of all Americans. Within HHS, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) are responsible for administering critical healthcare programs that enable millions of Americans to access quality medical care. CMS manages the nation’s Medicare and Medicaid programs, providing oversight and support for healthcare delivery across the country. The Office of Financial Management (OFM), within CMS, supports the agency by ensuring efficient and effective management of financial resources and associated administrative functions. The Front Office’s Travel Concierge Team plays a key role in managing travel logistics and supporting high-level officials within CMS.

As a Travel Concierge at the GS-0343-13 level, you will serve as the senior travel liaison and authoritative analytical resource for CMS political appointees and Senior Executive Service (SES) members. This role is integral to facilitating smooth, compliant, and strategic travel arrangements for some of the agency’s highest-ranking officials. You will coordinate all aspects of official domestic and international travel ensuring adherence to Federal travel regulations and CMS policies. Your expertise will be relied upon to interpret complex travel regulations in unique or unprecedented scenarios where standard guidance does not apply, particularly for urgent or sensitive travel requests.

In this position, you will act as the primary point of contact for some of the most complex and high-profile travel situations involving political appointees and SES members, requiring exceptional professionalism, discretion, and strategic problem-solving skills. You will be responsible for identifying and resolving travel issues promptly to support CMS leaders in fulfilling their mission-critical duties without disruption.

Additionally, you will play a leadership role in developing and delivering training programs and oral presentations across CMS and other affiliated entities. These training sessions will cover Federal travel regulations, agency travel policies, procedures, and updates to government-wide travel systems. Your ability to communicate complex regulatory information clearly and effectively will facilitate compliance and enhance travel management efficiency across the agency.

This position is a full-time federal employment opportunity with a competitive salary range typically between $117,284 and $158,322 annually, depending on location, such as Philadelphia or Woodlawn, and experience. CMS offers flexible working arrangements and alternative work schedules at management’s discretion. You will also be expected to provide support during evenings, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis to assist travelers who are in travel status and may require immediate assistance.

Working with CMS means joining a dedicated public service team committed to improving healthcare administration and support for millions of Americans. You will engage in meaningful work that strengthens the efficiency of government operations and contributes directly to the functioning of a federally funded agency focused on public health advancement. This career offers you the opportunity to apply your travel management expertise in a challenging, mission-driven environment with ample scope to develop professionally and make a significant impact on federal travel operations for agency leadership.
