Job Description

Amazon is a global leader in e-commerce and logistics, known for its commitment to innovation, customer satisfaction, and efficient supply chain operations. As one of the fastest growing business sectors within Amazon over the past several years, the Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) plays a crucial role in delivering world-class service through its advanced transportation network. With facilities and operations spanning North America and beyond, ATS ensures timely and secure trailer movement, yard management, and overall transportation efficiency. Amazon's transportation operations are supported by a diverse team of Transportation Associates, who are integral in maintaining seamless logistics and enhancing operational workflows.

The Transportation Associate role within Amazon involves hands-on management of trailer yard activities, ensuring the safety, organization, and smooth flow of trailer traffic. Key responsibilities include performing trailer moves, coordinating yard functions such as trailer check-ins and traffic flow, conducting yard audits, and completing driver training programs including Hostler and Commercial Driver's License (CDL) School. Transportation Associates operate multiple types of vehicles such as hostlers and day cabs, adapting to business needs while upholding Amazon's rigorous safety standards. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working outdoors and want to gain exposure to various facets of transportation operations.

In this role, employees prioritize safety by following and enforcing company rules and regulations for vehicle operation and yard access. They support site operations teams, transportation field teams, and external carriers to guarantee trailers arrive and depart on schedule without defects, thereby maintaining building workflow. Additionally, Transportation Associates receive professional training to operate Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs), comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, perform vehicle inspections, and document any maintenance or delivery issues. They adhere to hostler and delivery schedules, record work hours and breaks in compliance with federal and company policies, and drive cautiously according to weather and road conditions.

Career growth is an important aspect of the Transportation Associate position. Amazon offers comprehensive training in transportation operations, including opportunities to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL), with the cost covered by the company if business needs require it. Those who advance in their CDL certification assume DOT-regulated responsibilities, including completing background screenings, physical exams, and drug testing as part of federal compliance. This position is for individuals 21 years or older with a high school diploma or equivalent, and requires physical endurance to lift up to 49 pounds, stand and walk for up to 12-hour shifts, and perform various physical tasks. Flexibility to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays is also essential.

The role also offers exposure to different Amazon site types such as North America Customer Fulfillment (NACF), North America Sort Centers (NASC), air hubs, Amazon Last Mile (AMZL), and Amazon Extra Large (AMXL) operations. Working as a Transportation Associate provides long-term career potential within the transportation sector of a global company recognized for innovation and operational excellence. Amazon prioritizes a diverse and inclusive workplace, offering numerous benefits starting from the first day of employment, including mental health support, Employee Assistance Programs, medical advice lines, and 401(k) matching plans. Starting pay for this role in Cleburne, Texas ranges from $24.00 to $25.00 per hour, including shift differentials, overtime pay, and performance bonuses.
