Job Requirements
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade
- two years of experience in dispatch, transit operations, and/or customer service
- possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability
- willingness to undergo a panel interview and skills testing
- compliance with background check, driving history review, and Department of Transportation drug screening
- ability to work part-time hours
- strong communication and multitasking skills
Job Qualifications
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade
- two years of experience in dispatch, transit operations, and/or customer service
- ability to operate two-way radios and computer systems
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to handle emergency situations calmly
- customer service skills
- basic clerical and administrative skills
- possession of a valid driver’s license
- preferred possession of a North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements
Job Duties
- Schedule and coordinate vehicles and passenger trips
- dispatch transit vehicles
- respond to customer questions and complaints
- monitor and respond to communications including two-way radios and mobile phones
- verify and monitor staff locations
- record service calls
- prepare, prioritize and relay transportation requests including emergencies
- assist bus operators during vehicle breakdowns
- coordinate major equipment and vehicle repairs
- maintain employee time sheets and vehicle assignments
- act as receptionist and provide public information
- sell tickets to walk-in customers
- provide public transportation and para-transit dispatching
- assist route supervisors in shift assignments
- provide information to law enforcement regarding transit incidents
- manage daily cash handling for transit operations
