Job Requirements

  • Experience in managing drivers and traffic operations

  • Understanding of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations

  • Ability to audit and maintain transportation records

  • Experience conducting employee performance reviews and disciplinary actions
  • Ability to formulate procedural manuals
  • Proficient in analyzing management reports

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation requirements relating to ground transportation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good negotiating skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure

Job Duties

  • Oversee/manage drivers and their functions
  • Negotiate favorable freight rates for branch location
  • Coordinate outbound material loads
  • Organize work orders and transfer to warehouse for picking
  • Track freight accruals and report to bookkeeping
  • Maintain material receiving schedule
  • Understand and abide by all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
  • Audit daily driver logbooks
  • Maintain records as required by DOT
  • Coordinate completed delivery tickets and forward to billing/invoicing
  • Supply sales with freight information as requested
  • Assist in warehouse supervisor training regarding proper paperwork procedures
  • Complete, coordinate and forward export order paperwork to customs as required
  • Complete annual employee performance reviews for department personnel
  • Perform coaching of department employees including reprimands and/or disciplinary actions
  • Formulate and maintain procedural manuals for all major department functions
  • Regularly analyze department performance using specific management reports
  • Implement and enforce all company policies and procedures
  • Act as liaison for regular communication among departments and customers
  • Manage special projects as assigned by management
