Job Description

The North Tarrant Express (NTE), NTE 35W, and LBJ are landmark transportation projects in Texas aimed at improving traffic flow, safety, and capacity throughout high-congestion corridors between Dallas and Fort Worth. The NTE project was the first design-build-finance-operate-maintain managed lanes initiative in Texas and involved the complete overhaul of 13.3 miles of the I-820/SH-183 corridor. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years of traffic management experience
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Knowledge of ITS and ATMS technology
  • Ability to remain calm and multitask during crises
  • Strong communication and report writing skills
  • Flexibility to work alternate schedules and be on call for guidance
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Ability to work in a high-energy, sometimes stressful environment
  • Vision to focus on multiple displays and monitors

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration or directly related experience in a TMC environment
  • Minimum 3 years of traffic management experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
  • Knowledge of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS)
  • Familiarity with Traffic Incident Management (TIM) practices preferred
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm during crisis management
  • Skilled in report writing, presentations, spreadsheet analysis, and communications
  • Strong analytical skills to collect and disseminate data
  • Solid leadership skills including interpersonal communication, motivation, retention, and conflict resolution
  • Professional demeanor with a collaborative approach
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules including nights and weekends
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Job Duties

  • Provide day-to-day guidance, supervision, and workflow for a team of TMC Operators and Leads
  • Occasionally perform the duties and responsibilities of a TMC Operator
  • Learn and navigate the current and future Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) and train TMC staff
  • Collaborate with internal departments on operational or system enhancements and provide recommendations
  • Understand and execute the Snow and Ice Winter Plan when triggered
  • Review Operators work performance to identify knowledge gaps and provide feedback
  • Reinforce adherence to standard operating policies and procedures
  • Create and distribute schedules for normal operations, winter events, and special circumstances
  • Review and approve time off requests and submit bi-monthly timesheets
  • Support revision or creation of standard operating procedures
  • Assist in interviewing, selecting, and training TMC hires
  • Coordinate incident response between multiple agencies during emergencies
  • Maintain relationships with city agencies such as TXDOT and local police departments
  • Participate in periodic department meetings and communicate changes to staff
  • Respond promptly to internal and external inquiries
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
