The position of Marketing and Event Center Coordinator in Sandoval County is a dynamic role that requires professional expertise in managing marketing campaigns, coordinating events, and overseeing facility operations at the Tourism and Event Center. This position reports directly to the Director of Economic Development and works closely with the County Lodgers Tax Board and Tourism Alliance Committees to ensure alignment with the County’s strategic goals. The coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring the County's branding, tourism, and marketing strategies, including those related to the NM True Brand Campaign. Through active engagement with hotels, restaurants, and local attractions, the coordinator fosters partnerships that enhance the County’s tourism offerings and economic vitality.
Key responsibilities include executing innovative marketing strategies to increase the utilization of the Event Center, developing promotional materials, overseeing web content and digital campaigns, and working with media and travel industry professionals to boost visibility. The coordinator also administers grant funding, manages budgets, handles contract management, and ensures the Event Center is well-maintained and operational. Additionally, the role involves educating hospitality sector personnel, preparing annual tourism reports, and representing the County at regional and national tourism events to build strong networks and promote Sandoval County as a premier destination.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in tourism, hospitality, marketing, economic development, business administration, or related field
- four years' experience managing or coordinating events in convention or conference center environments
- valid New Mexico driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
- proficiency in grant writing and administration preferred
- ability to maintain a valid New Mexico driver's license
- excellent organizational skills
- strong written and verbal communication skills
- ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders
- knowledge of marketing techniques and economic development principles
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Executes marketing strategies to generate clients and leads for the Event Center
- develops marketing methods to ensure competitive utilization of the Event Center
- coordinates maintenance and property management with County Public Works
- provides advisory support for creative message development and web content flow
- oversees website design and printed collateral generation
- plans research-based advertising strategies to increase leisure travel market share
- develops relationships with tourism publications, tour operators, and travel agents
- conducts familiarization tours for media and travel industry professionals
- prepares press kits, writes press releases, and coordinates media campaigns
- provides educational programs for hospitality personnel
- gathers data and prepares annual tourism analysis
- delivers presentations to civic and governmental organizations
- represents the County in regional tourism planning and serves on local committees
- attends meetings and workshops to stay informed of industry changes
- coordinates and creates ideas for special events as needed
- writes and administers grants and oversees grant documentation and finances
- reviews and maintains department financial records and budgets
- performs contract management and coordinates staff schedules
- provides administrative and technical support including preparation of letters and agreements
