Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Food Handler’s Certification
  • Minimum one year of food service or related work experience
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 70 lbs
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to work in environments ranging from -10 degrees in freezers to over 100 degrees on the front line
  • Ability to bend knees frequently and climb periodically
  • Ability to hear equipment timers and communicate with staff
  • Ability to see that products are prepared appropriately
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions

Job Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent experience

  • Knowledge of cooking practices and kitchen procedures
  • Ability to perform non-repetitive analytical work in a kitchen environment

Job Duties

  • Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards
  • Start food items that are prepared ahead of time without exceeding estimated needs
  • Date all food containers and rotate per standard operating procedures
  • Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull, and line set up
  • Note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages
  • Assist in keeping buffet stocked
  • Return all unused food items to designated storage areas with proper covering and dating
  • Assist in implementing plans and actions to correct food cost problems and control food waste, loss, and usage
