Job Requirements

  • At least 16 years of age if working full-time
  • Free of communicable diseases
  • Ability to stand, stoop, crouch, kneel, balance, finger, grasp, push, pull, reach or walk
  • Capability to lift and carry weights between 35 and 50 pounds
  • Capability to exert sustained force to draw, drag or tug objects
  • Ability to speak and read English
  • Willingness to comply with safety and infection control protocols
  • Availability to work varied shifts as assigned
  • Commitment to follow all company policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a similar working environment preferred
  • Must be at least 16 years of age if working full-time
  • Must be free of communicable diseases
  • Ability to perform arithmetic and measurement conversions used in food preparation
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets
  • Ability to follow cleaning and waste disposal procedures
  • Experience in kitchen equipment care and use
  • Understanding of infection control procedures
  • Ability to identify and address physical, chemical and electrical hazards
  • Knowledge of Exposure Control Plan for occupational exposure risks
  • Ability to maintain privacy of resident health information
  • Proficiency in English for verbal and written instructions
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships
  • Willingness to attend staff meetings, in-service classes and committee meetings

Job Duties

  • Inspect and clean food preparation areas such as equipment and work surfaces to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices
  • Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperatures by regulating ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters
  • Check for food freshness, rotate stock and avoid food waste
  • Weigh, measure and mix ingredients according to recipes using kitchen utensils and equipment
  • Prepare foods by washing, peeling and cutting meats, vegetables, fruits and fish
  • Test foods for sufficient cooking by tasting, smelling or piercing them
  • Portion, arrange, garnish food and serve to waiters or patrons with ability to prepare therapeutic and mechanically altered diets
  • Meet meal schedules for residents, staff and guests
  • Assist dishwasher in clearing tables and washing dishes when necessary
  • Work any shift as directed by the Director
  • Comply with all federal, state and company policies and procedures
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director
