Job Requirements

  • At least 16 years of age
  • Must be free of communicable diseases
  • Ability to perform simple arithmetic and unit conversions
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions
  • Ability to perform cleaning and waste disposal
  • Ability to recognize physical, chemical, and electrical hazards
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of resident health information
  • Ability to lift and move weights up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, stoop, crouch, kneel, balance, and walk as needed
  • Must attend staff meetings and training sessions

Job Qualifications

  • Prior experience in similar food service environments preferred
  • Ability to understand and prepare therapeutic and modified diets
  • Food Handlers certification required within 90 days of employment
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment and related software
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and nights
  • Positive attitude and professional demeanor

Job Duties

  • Inspect and clean food preparation areas to ensure safe and sanitary practices
  • Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperatures
  • Monitor freshness of food, rotate stock, and avoid waste
  • Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes
  • Prepare food items by washing, peeling, and cutting as necessary
  • Test food to ensure proper cooking and quality
  • Portion, garnish, and serve food to patrons and staff
  • Meet meal schedules and dietary requirements
  • Assist dishwasher and servers as needed
  • Operate kitchen software to record meal information
  • Comply with policies, procedures, and safety regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Chef
