Job Requirements
- Must be free of all communicable diseases
- Must be at least 16 years old if working full-time
- Ability to stand, stoop, crouch, kneel, balance, finger, grasp, push, pull, reach, or walk
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing 35 to 50 pounds
- Ability to exert force to draw, drag, or tug objects continuously
- Ability to comply with safety and sanitation regulations
- Ability to adapt to changing workplace requirements
- Ability to attend staff meetings and in-service training sessions
Job Qualifications
- Prior experience in a similar working environment preferred
- Current Food Handlers certification preferred or must be acquired within first 90 days
- Ability to perform simple arithmetic and measurement conversions
- Ability to understand and prepare therapeutic diets
- Ability to perform cleaning and waste disposal as per policy
- Ability to assist in proper care and use of kitchen equipment
- Ability to follow infection control and exposure control procedures
- Ability to speak and read English and follow directions
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff and guests
- Ability to work any shift as directed
Job Duties
- Inspect and clean food preparation and serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices
- Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating kitchen equipment
- Check food freshness and quality, rotate stock, and avoid food waste
- Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes
- Wash, peel, and cut various foods including meats, vegetables, fruits, and fish
- Test foods for doneness using methods like tasting and smelling
- Portion, arrange, garnish food, and serve to waiters or patrons
- Meet meal schedules and dietary requirements for residents, staff, and guests
- Assist dishwashers and servers when necessary
- Comply with federal, state, and company policies and procedures
- Operate computer software for meal information recording
- Perform other duties as directed by the Executive Chef
