The Prep Cook position at The Texas Tech Club is a part-time role focused on preparing food to be served to guests during various events held at the venue. This role is critical in ensuring that all food preparation meets the highest standards of quality, freshness, and presentation. The ideal candidate plays an essential part in the kitchen team by adhering to company recipes, portion control requirements, and food safety standards. The prep cook is expected to have excellent attendance and punctuality due to the event-driven nature of the work schedule. Communication skills are vital, as the prep cook must consult with the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Supervisor for menu planning and food consumption estimates. The role requires the ability to operate standard kitchen equipment such as broilers, steamers, convection ovens, mixers, meat slicers, and chef knives safely and efficiently.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience as a prep cook or cook
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Availability to work flexible hours including events
- Valid food handling certificate if required
- Ability to stand for extended periods

- Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff and guests in a clear, business-like and respectful manner
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
- Possess valid food handling certificate if required by state and federal regulations
- ServSafe preferred
Job Duties
- Provide high quality fresh food products in a timely manner for delivery to guests
- Prepare hot and cold foods following company recipes and portioning requirements
- Participate as a team player with specific responsibilities in preparation, service and delivery of product
- Report any maintenance required for kitchen equipment
- Maintain sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas
- Observe and test foods to ensure proper cooking
- Portion, arrange and garnish food plates for delivery to guests
- Consult with Executive Chef, Sous Chef or Kitchen Supervisor to plan menus and estimate expected food consumption
- Maintain excellent attendance
