The role of a Line Cook at The Texas Tech Club is an exciting opportunity for individuals who enjoy working in fast-paced, team-oriented environments and have a passion for preparing quality food. This part-time position pays an hourly rate ranging from $13.00 to $17.00, making it an attractive option for those seeking flexible employment while honing their culinary skills. The Line Cook plays a crucial role in ensuring guests receive freshly prepared hot and cold foods that meet OVG's high standards for taste, presentation, and safety. Duties include slicing meats, preparing dishes to order, portioning, arranging, and garnishing food plates, and working closely with the Executive Chef and Kitchen Supervisor to plan menus and estimate food consumption needs for events. This position demands excellent attendance, reliability, and the ability to adapt to the dynamic nature of event schedules.

Participants in this role are expected to maintain a clean and sanitary workspace in compliance with health and safety regulations, operate standard kitchen equipment proficiently, and demonstrate strong communication skills with team members, management, and guests. Job Requirements

  • previous cook or prep cook experience
  • ability to operate standard kitchen equipment including the broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, meat slicer and chef knife
  • ability to communicate clearly with team members and guests
  • ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented, event-driven environment
  • possess valid food handling certificate if required by state and federal regulations

Job Qualifications

  • able to operate standard kitchen equipment including the broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, meat slicer and chef knife
  • ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff and guests in a clear, business-like and respectful manner which focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative work environment
  • ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
  • possess valid food handling certificate if required by state and federal regulations
  • ServSafe preferred

Job Duties

  • responsible for providing high quality, fresh food products in a timely manner for delivery to guests
  • prepares hot and cold foods following company recipes and portioning requirements
  • participates as a team player with specific responsibilities as related to preparation, excellent service and delivery of product
  • responsible for reporting any maintenance required for kitchen equipment
  • maintains sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas
  • responsible for observing and testing foods to ensure proper cooking
  • responsible for portioning, arranging and garnishing food plates for delivery to guests
  • responsible for consulting with Executive Chef, Sous Chef or Kitchen Supervisor to plan menus and estimate expected food consumption
  • show demonstrated ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance
